Your account
We collect your email address when you create an account. Your password is stored only as a password hash, never as readable text. Account data is stored in AWS DynamoDB in eu-west-2 (London).
Tutor chats
When you ask the tutor a question, we send the chat content needed to answer it to OpenRouter Inc. in the United States. OpenRouter acts as our processor and uses AI models to generate the answer. This is an international transfer of your data.
Voice input
Gloss has two voice modes. Live voice conversations stream your speech to ElevenLabs Inc. in the United States, our voice AI processor, to hold the conversation in real time; audio is processed to generate replies and is not stored by Gloss. We tell you this in the app before your first live session. The simpler dictation fallback uses your platform's speech recognition (Apple, or Google on some browsers), which may process audio on their servers under their policies. Your audio is never sent to or stored on Gloss servers.
Analytics and sign-in
We use EU-hosted PostHog product analytics to understand how Gloss is used and improve the service. If you choose social sign-in, Clerk Inc. processes the information needed to sign you in with that provider.
Billing
Stripe processes subscription payments. Gloss receives subscription and payment status, but never sees or stores your card numbers.
Where listeners asked
The community feature called “where listeners asked” may show questions people asked about an episode. Questions are shown anonymously, without your name or email address.
How long we keep data
We keep your account and associated server data until you delete your account. The in-app Delete account control permanently removes your account and server data.
